Role Summary: The Engine Controls Engineer will support the enhancements and new feature development of New Product Introduction and Current Product Support for engine controls. You will work as a part of a team to develop control strategy requirements and concepts, design solutions and perform control system calibration and validation, troubleshoot customer issues, and support problem resolution.

Essential Responsibilities:

Essential responsibilities include:
  • Developing and enhancing engine control strategies
  • Developing and defining engine control feature/diagnostics requirements
  • Prototyping new engine control concepts/enhancements through modeling and simulation
  • Supporting diagnostics development including strategy development, modeling and simulation
  • Supporting feature calibration and validation efforts in the engine test cell and in the field
  • Developing feature test procedures to ensure performance is in line with the requirements
  • Diagnosing and resolving engine controls issues by leading test cell and locomotive data collection and root cause analysis
Key competencies include:
  • Developing MATLAB scripts and SIMULINK models
  • Developing, enhancing and documenting DFMEA
  • Working with a cross-functional team to identify and implement control strategy enhancements
  • Providing timely communications to key stakeholders on progress, issues, or constraints which impact schedule, costs, scope of work, and/or resources
  • Recording and reporting technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Participating as a presenter in technical and program reviews
  • Ensuring proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks, consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering
  • Demonstrated project experience in Engine Systems and/or Control Engineering
